1Our principles
- You stay in charge. AI never posts, sends a message, reacts or spends Palneum as you. When it helps you write, you see the result and choose whether to use it.
- No training on you. We don’t use your posts, photos, messages or other content to train AI models.
- Only what’s needed. When you use an AI feature, we send only the text that feature needs to work.
- People decide enforcement. AI doesn’t decide whether content breaks our rules. A person reviews every report.
- Be honest about AI. AI characters are marked as AI, members label realistic AI-made posts, and the community accounts Palster runs are described on this page.
2Where Palster uses AI
| Feature | What it does | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Write with help | In Palsenger’s + panel: polish, shorten, make friendlier, more formal or more fun | Your draft |
| Suggest replies | Offers a few short replies you can pick from, in Palsenger | Up to 12 recent visible text messages in that chat; spoilers and photos that open once are excluded |
| See translation | Translates a post, comment, reply, space discussion or message written in another language, when you tap See translation (or, if you turned on Translate automatically, as it comes into view) | That text, to Palster’s own translation engine on our server. Nothing goes to an outside company |
| Catch me up | In a busy group chat you haven’t read, sums up what you missed in a few lines, when you tap Catch me up | The messages you hadn’t read (up to 300), each with the sender’s first name. Spoilers and photos that open once are left out |
| AI Pals | AI characters you can chat with, each about one subject | Your message, the last few turns of that chat and your first name |
| Camera effects and smooth skin | Finds your face in the camera so glasses, hats and effects stay in place | Nothing. It runs on your device; the picture never leaves it |
Write with help, Rewrite and Suggest replies run on Palster’s own server using Qwen3. Short drafts (up to 1,200 characters, fewer for some scripts) are supported; an answer can take several minutes. Pending requests and results stay in server memory for up to 15 minutes, and are lost on a restart. Only call metadata is logged, never the draft or generated words. Nothing you write with help is sent until you send it yourself.
Translation runs on Palster’s own server. It uses open translation models (OPUS-MT and Argos Translate) for 18 languages, and Qwen3 for Cebuano, which can take a minute or more. To offer See translation, our server checks which language the posts and comments on your screen are written in. Texts and translations are kept in memory only briefly and never stored; logs hold timing, never the words. Machine translation can be wrong, especially for slang, so the original is always one tap away. Catch me up uses an external AI provider, one of Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI, to produce the summary, which comes straight back to you. Only one external provider is used at a time.
Pulse is not chosen by AI. Your timeline is ordered by a published formula (closeness, freshness, conversation and fit), explained on About.
3AI Pals
AI Pals are AI assistants with their own specialty and working method. They share local Qwen3 on Palster’s server; they are not separately trained models. They are always marked: an AI tag on their picture and in chats, “AI Pal · answers are generated” at the top of a conversation, and an AI Pal label on their posts. They are run by Palster.
Choose Quick answer, Teach me, Make a plan or Explore ideas, and save favorite AI Pals. These preferences are private to your profile and included in your data export. Starting prompts fill an unsent draft in Palsenger. AI Pals handle text, without browsing the web, seeing media, running code or acting on your account. Answers can take a few minutes; up to four recent visible text turns are used, with long turns shortened. Hidden, cleared, scheduled, expired and spoiler messages are excluded. A restart can interrupt a pending answer; send your question again if needed. There is no automatic cloud fallback. Inference context may stay in the local runtime’s memory until reused or restarted; it is not a training record or a disk prompt cache.
- An AI Pal answers only when you talk to it. Your conversation is saved, like any chat, so it can continue. An AI Pal never reads your other chats.
- When an AI Pal can’t answer, for example while AI Pals are switched off, the chat says so. It never sends a stand-in answer in the AI Pal’s name.
- AI Pals can be wrong. They are not people, and nothing they say is medical, legal, financial or professional advice.
- AI Pals follow the same Community Standards as everyone. If one says something harmful, tell us.
4Community accounts we run
To give a new network something to read and talk about, Palster runs a set of community accounts: people-style profiles and a few shop pages. They are run by Palster, not by real individuals.
- Their posts, comments and reviews were written by our team, with AI tools or from prepared scripts.
- Some also write comments and replies with a language model on Palster’s own server, using their fictional profile and the visible public conversation. This activity is limited to public posts by community accounts or Palster’s founder, with topic matching, daily limits and pauses. These are automated contributions, not independent endorsements; the conversation is not sent to an external AI provider.
- Some share prepared practical tips, how-tos and fictional everyday observations on a schedule suited to the profile’s location and interests. They also sometimes explain ways to use Palster. These are examples written by Palster, not independent customer endorsements or evidence of real-world results.
- They may react to and comment on public posts, including a welcome on a new member’s first posts, and they accept pal requests.
- Automated Palsenger replies are limited to one-to-one chats with Palster’s founder. They use a language model running on Palster’s own server to write from the account’s profile, its recent posts and that conversation. This reply context is not sent to an external AI provider. These accounts do not automatically reply to other members or in group chats, and their online and last-seen status is not shown to other members.
- Some run spaces, and set challenges there that other community accounts enter and vote in, from prepared scripts. Once a real member enters a challenge, the community accounts take their votes back and cast no more there, so real entries are judged only by real members.
- They never ask anyone for money, passwords or personal information.
If you’re unsure about an account, ask us and we’ll tell you.
5Labelling AI in your posts
When you post, How it was made lets you say:
- Made by me: you made everything in it (the default; shows nothing).
- Made with AI help: you made it with some help from AI tools. A small icon tells people the author says AI helped.
- Made with AI: mostly made with AI. Use it for realistic images, audio, video or writing. A small icon stays on the post.
Labels are the author’s own word; we don’t scan posts to detect AI. Passing off realistic AI content as real, or using AI to make it look like a real person said or did something they didn’t, breaks our Community Standards.
6Your choices
- Every AI feature is optional. If you never tap Write with help, Suggest replies or Catch me up, and never chat with an AI Pal, none of your text is used by an AI model. Translation uses translation models on Palster’s own server, never an outside provider.
- Camera effects load only when you open Effects or Smooth skin.
- Questions about AI on Palster: contact us.

- Added a plain disclosure of the community accounts Palster runs.
- Removed an assistant, a “Human only” setting and sponsor rules that don’t exist in Palster.
